Hi, I’m Cat Margulis!

I’m a Toronto-based author, speaker, and narrative strategist – currently working on my next novel and helping others ditch the stories that no longer fit so they can create what comes next.

Before this, I spent years telling stories for publications like ELLE Canada, The Globe and Mail, and Today’s Parent, and helping brands like Walmart and Fairmont do the same.

Words have always been my way through—and my way forward.

For years, I climbed the ladder as a journalist, magazine editor, and content strategist, chasing titles, hitting milestones, and playing by the rules… until life handed me a plot twist I couldn’t ignore.

When the titles and safety nets fell away, I realized something unexpected:

It wasn’t the work I’d lost. It was the version of myself I was ready to outgrow. That moment changed everything.

These days, I’m less interested in the stories we’re told to follow – and more interested in breaking out of them.

Today, I help people find the power in their own stories – whether that means writing the book they’ve been circling for years, stepping on to a bigger stage, or navigating a life that no longer follows the script.

Because story isn’t just something we tell. It’s the lens we see ourselves through. And when that lens shifts, everything else can too.

I’m also a mom of four, which means I understand what it looks like to build something meaningful in the middle of a full, messy, complicated life.
