Trust your new life. Stay the course.
These were the words I wrote down, so many years ago, to carry me past fear and into the great wide unknown of my hopes and dreams.
I was embarking on so many life changes – a new book, podcast and business – I needed tools, something to steady me against my greatest adversary: myself.
So, following Martha Beck’s advice in Finding Your Own North Star, I created a Greek chorus of encouragement – a list of affirmations to remind me of who I am, what is true, and what is possible.
And these two lines made that list:
Trust your new life. Stay the course.
Change is scary.
Whether it’s ending a relationship, or committing to a new one.
Moving cities or countries.
Quitting a job. Starting a business.
Writing a book. Launching a podcast.
No matter how old we are or how experienced we become, starting anything new – or changing course – is always terrifying.
And reminders like these help us gather the courage to move forward.
Because it’s so much better than staying stuck.
There is so much wonder, joy, and growth on the other side of fear.
In fact, the bigger the change, the greater the transformation.
And the more our faith, courage, and confidence have a chance to grow.
So I want to be that voice for you today.
With whatever you’re moving through.
Whatever you’re embarking on.
Whatever you’re being called toward.
TRUST YOUR NEW LIFE.
STAY THE COURSE.
