What a week! People are starting to get their pre-ordered copies of Again, Only More Like You, and reviews are starting to roll in. I’ve even been on TV! (Catch me on CHCH Morning Live, talking about my book.)
It’s a little unnerving. When your mother-in-law texts you that she got the book and now you’re wondering what will she think about her DIL when she reads it?! 😜
Or you find out that your dad has created a YouTube channel for you. 😱 (I refuse to look.)
Or your book averages 3 stars when you think it’s a 10 out of 10. 😂
What is it about us authors that is willing to risk MASSIVE rejection by hundreds and even thousands of people, to share our deepest thoughts and heart’s desires. Are we all crazy or what?!!!
So this is what is going through my mind at the eleventh hour. In four more days, I will be an official published author. My book will be in bookstores, and even airports, around the world. Random people will be reading something I wrote in secret over the past decade. Some will like it. Many of them won’t. And I’m okay with that.
Like Cecilia Ahern said to me in an interview years back, when she shared what she tells herself as she braces for feedback from the world about her books, “I did the best I could.”
I did the best I could. And my best is good enough.
